"blind Man's Buff" Terracotta Sculpture By Francesco Camillotti, Dated 1874
Artist: Francesco Camillotti
A refined and rare terracotta sculptural group depicting two *putti* playing "Blind Man's Buff" (*Mosca cieca*), a work by the Italian sculptor Francesco Camillotti.
On the edge of the naturalistic base, the piece bears an inscription incised by the artist: "Camillotti / inventò e modellò 1874" (conceived and modeled by Camillotti, 1874), while the title "GATTA CIECA" is incised on the opposite side. This inscription highlights the artist's intellectual and creative authorship of the model.
The composition is characterized by a distinct narrative liveliness and excellent sculptural quality, evident in the anatomical rendering of the youthful figures, the details of the hair, and the floral elements decorating the ground. Excellent period patina.
