China: Turquoise Sculpture Group
Here I present a stunning turquoise sculpture depicting Quan Yin, seated on a dragon with a child at her side. In her right hand, she holds the pearl of wisdom and compassion, the primary quality attributed to Quan Yin. In her left hand, she holds a Ruy scepter, symbolizing the fulfillment of wishes as well as spiritual power in the Buddhist tradition.
The child, for his part, holds in his hands the vase of purity, another attribute of Qwan Yin that contains the nectar of compassion.
Finally, the dragon on which she sits represents power and her ability to rescue beings in danger.
