Late 17th Century Large Stone Mortar
Refined large mortar, finely carved from stone. The mortar has a downward-curving shape and a lobed rim, characterized by four protrusions. These are useful for easier gripping during pounding and for emptying the contents. One of the protrusions is missing. This is an object of great taste and refinement, capable of lending a touch of antiquity to any space. Tuscan manufacture, late 17th century.
