La Grange Aux Potiers – Large Rooster Dish, Circa 1960
A large decorative ceramic dish created by Madeleine de Valence for La Grange aux Potiers.
The piece features a large stylized rooster that covers almost the entire surface. The design, which is particularly graphic, is rendered in broad swaths of brown and black against a background nuanced with coppery tones and verdigris. The incised lines highlight the plumage and lend great strength to the composition.
The reverse bears the monogram “GP” of La Grange aux Potiers as well as the handwritten notation “One-of-a-kind piece”.
A piece comparable to the rooster-decorated piece was featured in the exhibition “ La Céramique au féminin”, held in late 2025 at the Museum of Mediterranean Pottery in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie.
