"Nevers Earthenware Cup With Revolutionary Decoration, 18th Century"
Earthenware bowl with a contoured rim, decorated in the center with a blue bird perched on an open cage, accompanied by the handwritten inscription Liberté. Stylized floral frieze on the rim, framed with manganese fillets and yellow plant decoration on the rim. This symbolic iconography, directly linked to the ideals of the French Revolution, is typical of the committed production of Nevers in the 1790s.
