These frames feature rich carved decoration of flowers and foliage in bas-relief and high relief. Here, time has taken its toll, revealing the preparatory layer beneath the gilding and lending a superb patina to these relics of the past. The shades of white, ochre, and gray give the carving great depth, making these frames decorative elements in their own right.
