Pair Of Chambord Vases With Swans, Made Of Silver, Revolutionary Period, 18th Century
Artist: Denis Colombier Paris
Pair of small "Chambord" vases with swan-shaped handles in solid silver, late 18th century. One of them bears the boar hallmark surmounted by a 1, which was used during the Revolutionary period following the abolition of the guilds in 1791. Faced with this situation, the “Association of Goldsmiths” created several hallmarks, including this one. One of our vases bears the goldsmith’s hallmark of Denis Colombier in Paris, dating from 1797. Our vases were subsequently rehallmarked; one ofthus bearing a mark featuring the first Parisian rooster, and the second bearing a first provincial rooster accompanied by an old man’s head in a medallion and the Paris “old man” mark in use from 1819 to 1838, as well as an unidentified silversmith’s mark... Weight: 269 grams.
Our vases are of exceptional quality in their craftsmanship, both in their engraving and their lines.
