Set Of 4 Etruscan-style Chairs With Lyre Motifs From The Directoire Period
A set of four Directoire-style chairs in the Etruscan style, made of off-white lacquered beech, late 18th century. Their cabriolet-style curved backs are adorned in the center with a delicately carved lyre. The seats rest on tapered front legs featuring a rare design of stylized oak leaves. Their elegance, the quality of their craftsmanship, and the delicacy and variety of their carved decoration are typical of late 18th-century Parisian work. These comfortable chairs are very stable and sturdy; their traditional upholstery has been refitted and covered in glazed brown leather with matching double-stitched trim.
