This print is part of the famous series Studies of Horses Lithographed from Life, published shortly before the artist’s untimely death. It depicts a Hanoverian horse in its stable, held by a groom—a composition emblematic of Géricault’s passionate interest in anatomical study and the equestrian world.
The print bears the following inscriptions on the stone:
