"rast Und Gasser" Revolver - Model 1898 - Austria - 8 Mm Caliber

"RAST UND GASSER" revolver, Model 1898, AUSTRIA, 8 mm caliber (Rast Gasser - 8.1 x 27) – 19th century.
Closed, one-piece frame into which a round barrel with a sighting mechanism is screwed.
Smooth 8-shot cylinder in 8 mm caliber (8.1 x 27 Rast Gasser), except for the cylinder detent notches.
Loaded through the rear-hinged loading door.
A hollow ejector rod slides along a shaft attached to a metal collar beneath the barrel.
Dark patina and checkered walnut stock.
Metal cap with a sling swivel ring.
All parts bear the same serial number.
Manufacturer’s markings and caliber on the frame and barrel, along with hallmarks and serial number. See photos.
Based on the serial number, this firearm was manufactured in 1917.
