19th-century Imari Plate — Red, Blue, And Gold Decoration, Floral Medallion, Painted Reverse — 31.5 × 26.5 Cm
Imari plate, 19th century. Porcelain with a curved rim, decorated with alternating panels of iron red and cobalt blue, accented with gold. The red panels feature chimeras and stylized flowers; the blue panels feature a geometric lattice pattern typical of Arita ware. In the center is a finely painted floral medallion in a vivid and balanced color palette. A fine example of late Imari, with the decoration entirely hand-painted.
There is a painted design on the reverse, in the cobalt blue style, and the original hanging mechanism is still in place.
