These posters highlight a variety of themes: rural life, steel production, the friendship between Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, and Mao Zedong Dong, insect and rat extermination, support for the struggle for civil rights for Black Americans, dedication to work, reading the Little Red Book, glorification of Mao Zedong’s thought , and… They often feature stereotypical depictions: a poster showing Chinese soldiers crushing a greenish American soldier with hooked fingers and a hooked nose under a giant foot, a massive fist crushing American leaders, etc…
A codified and limited visual language is deliberately used to make an impact on the viewer.
Some are vertical and others are horizontal.
