Étienne Bouillé, painter and photographer, born in 1858 in Villiers-Saint-Benoît, Burgundy, died in Perros-Guirec in 1933.
In Paris, he frequented the studios of Jean-Léon Gérôme and Luigi Loir.
He discovered Brittany in 1889 and was captivated by its landscapes andlight. He settled in Guingamp in 1892, then in Perros-Guirec in 1914. Until the 1930s, he traveled throughout Brittany, tirelessly photographing fishermen, seaweed harvesters, and farmers and painting a considerable number of realistic canvases.
