Stunning Provençal chest of drawers in solid walnut, dating from the mid-18th century (Louis XV period), from the Nîmes region. This piece stands out for the elegance of its curved lines and the richness of its carving, typical of high-quality Nîmes craftsmanship.
It features two large drawers with an ornate front, adorned with crossbars richly carved with openwork rocaille motifs. The drop-down bronze handles are original, a classic feature of this regional style.
This chest of drawers is entirely original, with no alterations, retaining its original patina, though it has undergone a few minor restorations due to normal wear and tear. Its top consists of two wide planks—one of walnut and one of cherry heartwood—joined using traditional techniques with tenons, mortises, and internal dowels, resulting in a particularly meticulous finish with no visible dowels on the surface.
