Empire-style Mustard Jar In Solid Silver And Blue Crystal—2nd Rooster Hallmark
Solid silver mustard dish with a cobalt blue glass jar, a beautiful Empire-style tripod design, with the legs adorned with large palmettes. Early 19th century, circa 1810.
It bears the "2nd rooster, 1st fineness" hallmark in use between 1809 and 1819, a goldsmith’s mark, the hallmark of the Goldsmiths’ Association, the Paris “medium guarantee” hallmark. It was also re-hallmarked with the Minerva mark after 1838.
The mustard pot comes with a salt-and-mustard spoon of a design and size that are perfectly suited to it. The spoons bear the wild boar’s head hallmark, a silversmith’s hallmark.
A refined, original design with elegant proportions, in excellent condition, no damage.
Note: From the same set, we also have matching salt shakers
