A grand, ornate chest of drawers made of molded, carved, and
stained wood to imitate mahogany, opening with two doors to reveal
six drawers and three belt drawers. Side panels shaped like
fluted and rudentated columns with asperges. Rich ornamentation of
chiseled and gilded bronze with a decoration of foliage, scrolls
leaves, lion’s muzzle, knotted ribbons, and trimmings, as well as
bacchanalian scenes in medallions. On spindle legs
terminating in bronze spurs shaped like pinecones.

This chest of drawers is inspired by a prestigious model created in 1786,
considered one of the most sumptuous of the reign of Louis XVI.
Originally, these pieces formed a pair intended for the Count of
Provence, before becoming part of the royal collection and being placed
notably at Fontainebleau, where they are preserved today.
