Louis XVI Mahogany Secretary Desk, Clover Locks, 18th Century
A beautiful Louis XVI-style secretary desk in mahogany and mahogany veneer over an oak frame, dating from the 18th century.
This charming piece features one tall drawer and three drawers in the lower section.
The drop-down top reveals a compartment with several small niches and drawers. This compartment was likely modified and restored during the 19th century.
It is topped with a thick slab of white marble.
All locks feature a clover-shaped cylinder. The lock on the top drawer does not work.
This secretary desk comes with two keys: one for the drop-down panel and the other for the three drawers in the lower section.
The piece is in very good condition. Please note some marks and signs of wear on the leather. There is a repair at the outer corner of the drop-down panel and a few inevitable but very discreet side cracks.
A very beautiful, elegant piece of furniture that has retained a lovely patina.
