Marquetry Table With Center Panels - Napoleon III Period (19th Century)
Napoleon III-era marquetry table with center flaps, crafted in the Louis XVI style
Precious wood marquetry (burl, blackened pear wood, and light-colored native woods)
The central tabletop features a scalloped medallion with a black background adorned with arabesques, foliage scrolls, and a stylized vase of flowers.
This composition is framed by a frieze of Greek motifs and foliage that extends across the two folding side panels.
The table’s apron opens via a drawer at the front, highlighted by a chiseled gilded bronze keyhole and framed by panels inlaid with floral garlands
The base consists of four tapered legs, fluted—a characteristic of the Louis XVI style—connected by a dynamic X-shaped crossbar in blackened wood, centered by a large gilded bronze spindle
Slight signs of wear,, notably a very slight gap at the base
