Silver Templar Pinky Ring With A Cross-shaped Seal Surrounded By Small Beads. 13th Century
The design of this ring, with its wide, domed band, features an engraved copper plate at its center—with traces of its original gold leaf—depicting the Templar cross in the shape of a sword, surrounded and protected by small spherical beads. The fact that the ring is made of silver underscores its significance, since in the Middle Ages this precious metal was worth about one-tenth the value of gold, rather than about one-seventieth as it is today. This ring is reliably dated to the 12th–13th centuries.
