Set Of 13 Ceramic Plates Decorated With Black- And Red-figure Designs In The Etruscan Style, Early 19th Century
A set of ceramic plates decorated with enamel on a glossy black background, inspired by Attic red-figure pottery, in the neoclassical and “Greek-style” tradition.
Each plate features a different figurative scene in the center, drawn from the mythological and Greco-Roman everyday life repertoire: draped figures in conversation, a horseman, a winged figure, a satyr or winged demon riding a goat, scenes of courtship and convivial life.
The rim of each plate is decorated with different classical ornamental motifs—meander (Greek key), ivy leaves, scallops, ovules, and radial patterns—creating an effect of great variety while maintaining the stylistic unity of the collection.
