Louis XV-style Meissen Porcelain Candleholder
A porcelain and gilded bronze candlestick adorned in the center with a girl holding up her flowered apron and wearing a light hat. She is surrounded by a magnificent naturalistic design composed of finely colored porcelain flowers and gilded bronze foliage. The piece is made of 18th-century Meissen porcelain on a gilded bronze rocaille base typical of the Louis XV style.
Small Saxon candlesticks are characteristic of the Rococo style due to their asymmetrical and dynamic decoration, their vivid yet delicate colors, and the frequent presence of putti, gallant scenes, and very delicate flowers. The bases, often irregular in shape, mimic rocks or shells, complementing these small sculptures to the point where the candlestick itself becomes almost secondary.
