BELLONI (Serge), known as the Painter of Paris, painter.
(1925–2005).
He studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts.
His works are exhibited in various national museums and in private collections around the world; his paintings have been acquired by the City of Paris, the French government, the Carnavalet Museum in Paris, the Ca’ Pesaro Museum in Venice, and others.
He was awarded: Knight of Arts and Letters, and the National Order of Merit. First Prize in Painting at Versailles (1949), the Marie Bashkirtseff Prize (1952), the Silver Medal of the City of Paris, and the Vermeil Medal of the City of Paris (1980).
This artist’s canvases are the result of extensive work and deep contemplation; the carefully selected materials bear witness to his craftsmanship and sensitivity.
“Place de Furstenberg ” (oil on panel) is a consummate example of his work, evoking all the poetry of Paris—with lavender blue in the gray-pink transparency of the winter sky, pearl-like clouds, still-wet sidewalks, and the misty silhouettes of buildings.
