Charming Little Louis XVI Clock In Carrara Marble And Gilded Bronze Signed Le Faucheur
Artist: Le Faucheur à Paris
Early 19th century clock – Movement signed Le Faucheur (1808–1830) Table clock in gilt bronze and white marble, with an elegant and refined neoclassical design, typical of the early 19th century. The case, richly decorated with garlands of plants and finely chiseled trophies, rests on a white marble base enhanced with a gilt bronze frieze. The white enamelled dial, with Arabic and Roman numerals, features a beautiful pair of finely worked openwork hands. The gilding, very fresh, highlights the quality of the chiseling and the refinement of the details. Signed Le Faucheur in Paris, the excellently crafted mechanism has an eight-day autonomy, anchor escapement, and strikes the hours and half-hours. Very good general condition: well-preserved gilding, intact dial, complete mechanism. The name Le Faucheur refers to a renowned Parisian watchmaking house, located on Rue de la Joaillerie (see TARDY) and active in the first half of the 19th century (around 1808–1830). This period marks a transition between the Empire style and the beginning of decorative romanticism, combining technical refinement and ornamental elegance.
