Piedmontese Secretary Desk In Veneered Walnut – Biella Region, 19th Century

An elegant 19th-century Piedmontese secrétaire, crafted in the Biella area, as attested by an original inscription found inside one of the secret compartments.

Made of walnut with a veneered front, it features the simple, well-proportioned lines typical of Piedmontese furniture of the period. The interior is organized with compartments and small drawers and features two secret compartments, an element of particular interest and charm.

The large drop-down top, upholstered in green cloth, provides a comfortable writing surface, while the lower compartment with doors offers additional storage space.

The piece is in good overall condition, consistent with its age. It shows normal signs of aging and use; it requires conservative restoration aimed at enhancing its original features.
