"Biedermeier Pyramid Secretary, Berlin, Around 1810"
This early 19th-century pyramidal secretary impresses with its architectural design and high-quality craftsmanship. The gable-shaped top with segmented infill is highlighted by a large, gilt-gilt vine appliqué on the front. Below this is a drawer with a diamond-shaped panel and an additional bronze appliqué. A drop-front and two deep drawers follow, their sides widening towards the bottom to form the characteristic pyramidal shape. The body is veneered in light, hand-polished mahogany, while the upper panels are enhanced with darker tones. The richly detailed interior features elegant inlays of tendrils and stars surrounding the lockable central compartment with a hexagonal frame.
