18th-century Frame With A Carved And Gilded Wooden Pediment – Louis XVI Period (43x36 / 35x22 Cm)
An elegant antique frame made of carved wood and gilded with gold leaf, topped by its original pediment, richly decorated with a stylized shell, acanthus leaves, and laurel garlands.
The side panels are decorated with finely carved laurel leaves ending in rosettes. The molding is embellished with beaded and twisted friezes, characteristic of the neoclassical style of the late 18th century.
The balance of its proportions, the delicacy of its decoration, and the presence of its pediment lend this frame a distinctive elegance. It serves as an ideal setting for a portrait, a courtly scene, or a French work from the late 18th century.
The original gilding retains a beautiful patina and shows signs of wear consistent with its age.
