Pair Of Adjustable Armchairs, Italian School, Circa 1955, Fully Restored And Reupholstered

Here is a pair of Italian armchairs manufactured in the early 1950s.
Their highly graphic frame is made of solid beech stained black.
The seats themselves are separate from the supporting frames, allowing each armchair to be transported in two relatively lightweight parts.
This is an unusual model for several reasons.
First, the woodwork features a very graphic design.
Second, these armchairs are height-adjustable via a simple notched mechanism.
In the lowered position, they function as armchairs.
In the raised position, they become two comfortable chairs.
Finally, they are relatively small in size, yet capable of comfortably seating an adult while taking up very little space on the floor and in width.
These armchairs have been completely restored and reupholstered using traditional, artisanal methods.
The woodwork has been repainted in satin black lacquer.
They have been reupholstered in a beautiful fabric made of cotton and technical fibers, highly durable and in a speckled blue color typical of the era.
Here, then, are two comfortable armchairs with a design representative of their era—easily transportable, space-saving, and capable of blending into many interiors, whether antique or contemporary.
