Bustin white marble, signed “A. Lanson,” late 19th centurydepicting a young woman in a lightly draped gown, her shoulders bare. Her hairis adorned with flowers, which are also featured on her garment. The figure rests onan onyx pedestal. Diameter: 20 cm. Height: 14 cm. In very good condition. Weight: 58 kg.
*ALFRED DÉSIRÉ LANSON 1851–1938, French sculptor born in Orléans and died in ParisAdmitted to the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris, he studied thereunder Pierre Louis Rouillard, François Jouffroy, and Aimé Millet.He made his debut at the 1870 Paris Salon with a plaster bust and a medallion.He went on to win numerous awards, including a Grand Prix at the 1889 World’s Fair.
