Biedermeier-style Secretary Desk, Central Germany, Circa 1830
A Biedermeier-style secretary desk in cherry wood, with blackened details and rosettes. The body is flanked by solid columns. The drop-leaf top, situated above three drawers, opens to reveal an interior centered around a tabernacle-shaped compartment covered with a mirror, surrounded by burl-veneered drawers fitted with blackened knobs. The secretary is topped by a concealed upper drawer and a cornice with simple moldings. Restored and hand-polished.
