"Louis XVI Mahogany Cylinder Desk"
A small mahogany cylinder desk with brass stringing, surmounted by a two-door glass-fronted cabinet. It is topped with a white Carrara marble slab adorned with an openwork brass gallery. It rests on four tapered feet with sabots. Opening the cylinder reveals a sliding leather-covered writing surface (unaltered) and three drawers in a row. Three additional false drawers are revealed when the pull-out slide is extended. The desk also has two drawers beneath the cylinder that close. Early 19th century, Louis XVI style.
