Pair Of Directoire-style Cassolettes, Late 18th Century.
Pair of reversible cassolettes that double as candlesticks, made of chiseled bronze gilded with mercury and patinated bronze. The square-sectioned, stepped base features a bas-relief decoration of fauns in the style of "Clodion." The vase-shaped cassolettes with handles feature a reversible lid that doubles as a candlestick.
Directoire period, late 18th century.
(Minor variations and one re-soldered handle. Previously electrified and restored; the electrical holes on the back of the base have been filled in.)
