Sèvres Porcelain Sugar Bowl - 19th Century, Second Empire Period
A rare "1838 bowl" shaped sugar bowl made of porcelain from the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory of Sèvres
With its lid and fixed rim.
A very attractive and unusual model; the same shape was chosen to adorn King Louis-Philippe’s ceremonial service at the Château d’Eu.
The elegant ring handle on the lid echoes the two side rings of this sugar bowl, whose shape readily evokes that of sauce boats.
Manufacturer’s mark on the bottom dated 1852, and the painted decoration was, in my opinion, executed outside of Sèvres.
Very good condition.
Height: 14 cm, length: 25 cm
