Oil Painting On Wood, Signed And Dated
A 19th-century oil painting on wood, depicting in the foreground a goat with thick, long brown and white fur and curved horns. It is positioned at the center of the scene, with a hilly landscape in the background featuring a pasture and a vivid sky-blue sky partially obscured by white clouds. The work is painted with great skill, with particular attention to minute details in the depiction of the surrounding nature and the animal. The painting is set in a gilded frame with a small twisted ribbon design on the inside, and is signed and dated in the lower right corner. Given the provenance and the care with which this painting was executed, even though we were unable to find information on the artist in question, we have conducted some research and the painter may have been inspired by or may belong to the circle of FRANZ VAN SEVERDONCK, a Belgian painter (1822–1889).
