Dolman Of The Imperial Guard's Mounted Chasseurs. Second Empire.

1857-style dolman, made entirely of green cloth, fastening straight down the front with pewter bell buttons stamped with the crowned imperial eagle. The front is trimmed with white wool braid and five rows of buttons. The back is decorated with a Hungarian bow made of white trimmings. Collar in cloth with white braiding.
Facing in madder-dyed cloth edged with white wool braid in a pointed shape.
Unbleached canvas lining dated to the second quarter of the 1870s. Inner waistband in fawn morocco leather.
