Our drawing is a preparatory study for the central figure of the painting titled Galatée ou la Poursuite (see photo), painted in 1908 and housed at the Musée Départemental Maurice Denis in Saint-Germain.
The quality of the drawing, the visible corrections, the use of charcoal, and the study of the body in motion are reminiscent of Edgar Degas’s graphic explorations.
