Louis XVI Style White Marble And Gilt Bronze Desk Clock

Elegant white marble and ormolu desk clock in the Louis XVI style, made in the late 19th century.
This delightful piece is distinguished by its sober, refined architecture, enhanced by rich ornamentation in finely chased ormolu. The garlands, beaded friezes and decorative elements of neoclassical inspiration set off a delicate enamelled dial adorned with floral motifs and openwork hands.
Resting on four turned bronze feet, this clock is a perfect illustration of French decorative craftsmanship of the 19th century, and will bring a touch of elegance to a desk, a library or a collection of antique clocks.
Please note a small chip on the marble, located to the left of the dial and visible on the photos. The mechanism has not been overhauled and will require servicing to ensure correct operation.
