Photograph Circa 1910 . Young Girl And Death . Statue By Elna Borch
Artist: Friedrich O. Wolters
Elle Borch (1869-1950) was a Danish sculptor who rose to fame in 1905 with the exhibition of this impressive statue, "The Maiden and Death".
Perhaps a reminiscence of Schubert's eponymous quartet that inspired the artist's chisel, the vision is spectacular.
Probably commissioned at the time by the Carlsberg Glyptotheque, where the statue was on display, Berlin photographer Fredrich O. Wolters, who specialized in portraits of works of art, was asked to take this shot.
The black background accentuates the striking character of the work.
Framed at the turn of the century in a black lacquered rod (minor accidents), the result is perfect, almost contemporary.
The photograph, which bears the name of the artist, photographer and copyright, is in perfect condition.
