Swedish Chopping Board For Flax

A hand–painted Swedish chopping board for flax (SKÄKTETRÄ) made of wood, featuring floral patterns and a polychrome crown below the handle. On the top part of the object, there are inscriptions painted in red: “ANNI.SOFFI.HANKANS 1847″. This is the surname of Annia Soffia Hakkans, who received this decorative cutting board as a wedding gift. A wooden tool formerly used to scutch hemp or flax, as well as to separate the tow from the straw.
