Important Lombard Coin Cabinet In Ebony And Ivory, Louis XIV Period, Early 18th Century
A refined Lombard coin cabinet dating from the early 18th century, crafted in fine ebony and embellished with elegant ivory inlays, representing a distinguished example of Northern Italian cabinetmaking during the Louis XIV period.
Compact and perfectly proportioned, the cabinet features an elegant architectural structure which, when opened, reveals an intricate arrangement of small drawers and compartments. The surfaces are decorated with finely engraved inlays depicting vegetal motifs, scrolling ornament and Baroque-inspired figures, executed with remarkable technical precision and exceptional attention to detail.
Particularly striking is the contrast between the deep tone of the ebony and the luminous quality of the ivory, which lends the piece both decorative richness and a strong visual presence.
