Solid Oak Prie-dieu, French Work From The Late 19th Century
Solid oak Pri-Dieu, French work from the late 19th century in the Louis-Philippe taste.
This charming piece of devotional furniture features a sober, elegant structure resting on ball feet at the front. The front is embellished with turned uprights framing a kneeler trimmed with antique fabric on the reverse.
The curved top is topped by a small scalloped pediment, while scalloped cut-outs and curved lines add much softness to the overall effect.
The beautiful warm patina of the oak underlines the authentic, rustic character of this piece. The reverse retains its antique textile trim, testifying to its traditional manufacture.
This prie-Dieu could also be diverted into a small occasional piece or decorative element in a country, classical or eclectic interior.
