Walnut and marquetry secretary desk – provincial work, Louis XVI period / late 18th century. Elegant straight secretary desk in walnut and marquetry, opening at the front with a drawer in the frieze, a drop-front, and two doors in the lower section. The upper drawer is adorned with bronze ring handles and a central keyhole escutcheon. The drop-front features a beautiful walnut panel, framed with stringing marquetry, and reveals a storage space typical of secretaries of this period. The lower section opens with two doors also framed with stringing, resting on slightly tapered legs. A simple and elegant piece, typical of provincial work inspired by the Louis XVI style, highlighting the warm grain of the walnut. Condition: good overall condition, restorations consistent with age, small cracks, and signs of age consistent with its age. Material: solid walnut and stringing marquetry. Period: late 18th century.
