Ancient carved oak sculpture depicting Saint Nicholas, bishop of Myre, accompanied by his most famous attribute: the three resurrected children emerging from the salt cellar.
The saint is depicted standing, wearing his episcopal vestments and capped with the miter.
He holds his crosier, now partially preserved, while at his feet appear the three children, arranged in the salting trough according to the traditional iconography of Saint Nicholas, protector of childhood and a figure particularly venerated in Northern France, Belgium and Lorraine.
The work features naive, expressive sculpture characteristic of religious folk art.

Saint Nicholas, bishop of Myre in the 4th century, is one of the most popular saints of Christianity. Legend has it that he resurrected three children murdered by a butcher and preserved in a salt cellar, an episode that became his main iconographic attribute. A protector of children, sailors and travelers, he remains one of the most venerated figures in Europe's religious heritage to this day.
