Very pretty pair of Maffrash Shahsaven fragments from Persia.
Woven wool on wool.
The weave is fine and refined. We're really dealing with late 19th century weaving, it's touching. The vegetal hues are dense and saturated, offering great luminosity and depth. The comb motifs are characteristic of early Shahsaven production. In this regard, the piece is referenced in specialized works.
