Dedicated to Monsieur Pierre Melchior d'Azémar.

J.Louis Panisse. The known artist seems to be a copyist of great talent, we know of him several paintings painted after works of Guido Reni and Guercino ( sybilles,saint jean....) with a virtuoso stroke he represents here ,saint pierre pleurant,after a painting by Guido Reni: (1575-1642)

Pierre Melchior d'Azémar (or d'Adhémar according to the period) escaped the revolutionary fury after 17 months of incarceration; he looked after his lands at the château de Teillan , then was appointed by Bonaparte , to the prefecture of the var.
