Pair Of Empire Period
Elegant and rare pair of Empire period torches, in patinated bronze and finely chased bronze, gilded with mercury, resting on a circular base with concentric decoration of olive leaves and water leaves.
The tapered shafts in patinated bronze are underlined at their ends by rings decorated with water leaves at the bottom and stylized lotus leaves at the top. The binnacles take the form of flames, evoking Antique and neoclassical tastes inspired by Roman architecture. Bobèches finely embellished with a string of pearls.
An identical model with unchased bases and no bobèches was sold at Artcurial on June 17, 2025, lot 395.
