The drawing we are presenting comes from the collection of Isabelle Lecomte du Noüy and was inherited from her grandmother, Gabrielle Bernheim. Her grandmother, Gabrielle Bernheim, had married the painter Félix Vallotton, a major figure in the Nabis group and a close associate of Édouard Vuillard.

To confirm its provenance, a collection stamp bearing Isabelle Lecomte du Noüy's initials was affixed to the back of the drawing by the Ader firm at the time of the collection's dispersal.
