Eighteenth-century Walnut Directoire Table, Between Two Tables
Directoire walnut entre-deux table
Directoire period, late XVIIIᵉ century
Elegant solid walnut entre-deux table resting on four square-section tapered legs, characteristic of the Directoire taste. Architecturally sober, it features a straight belt opening with a drawer at the front, retaining its antique draw knob.
The rectangular top, with its harmonious proportions, reveals a beautiful walnut with warm veining, sublimated by a patina acquired over time. The whole testifies to the quest for balance and rigor characteristic of the Directoire aesthetic, already heralding the streamlined forms of the Consulate.
