Medieval Gothic Openwork Bronze Incense Burner - Upper Aragon, Spain, 14th-15th Century
Rare medieval bronze censer, made in Spain in the Alto Aragón region between the 14th and 15th centuries.
This beautiful piece of Gothic tradition displays remarkable Mudejar influences, perceptible in its entirely openwork decoration of stylized lancets that lend the object great visual lightness. The base, more sober, is made of turned bronze and decorated with fine striated motifs.
This type of censer, characteristic of the medieval Iberian Peninsula, remains uncommon on the art market. The object retains a fine presence and testifies to the quality of Aragonese liturgical production in the late Middle Ages.
Height: 13.5 cm.
Good general state of preservation. Please note a few old restorations, compatible with the age and use of the piece.
An authentic and decorative work, particularly interesting for collectors of medieval art and ancient liturgical objects.
Police Register Ref: A090
