The canvas depicts the Rialto Bridge seen from the south, with the Grand Canal animated by gondolas, cargo boats and merchant vessels. The frontal viewpoint renders the central arch of the bridge with the architectural backdrops of the embankments on either side. The figures of gondoliers and boatmen rimandano to the repertoire of Canaletto's macchiette, reinterpreted with a freer brushwork characteristic of the Venetian vedutist production of the second half of the 19th century.

Condition report: Original canvas. Good state of conservation of the pictorial surface, with signs of ageing and wear.
