Oil on paper, in original gilt and pyrographed wood frame.
The view depicts the Basin of San Marco with the Doge's Palace prominently in the foreground on the left. Along the Riva degli Schiavoni, figures in 19th-century dress, moored gondolas, and sailing vessels animate the composition, while the background is closed by a sunset sky in warm orange and pink tones. The liveliness of the figures and the atmospheric rendering recall the typical repertoire of early 19th-century Venetian vedutisti.
